BackgroundManaging Successful Programmes (MSP) is a sister method to PRINCE2, and is also owned and managed by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC). The MSP manual was first published in 1999 and was recently updated with a new version in September 2007.What's Included in MSPMSP provides a good framework for programme management. It includes details of six main processes (such as Identifying a Programme, and Delivering Benefits), eight 'principles' (which are actually more like supporting processes, such as Quality Management), and descriptions of a number of recommended products (such as Vision Statement, and Programme Brief). The main process that runs the programme, Managing the Portfolio, contains links to PRINCE2. What's Involved in Using MSPLike PRINCE2, MSP requires tailoring to make it most useful to an organisation. It needs to be adapted to fit with any existing project management and organisation roles. Again, a short guide plus supporting documents like checklists and templates will likely be required. Some detail on soft skills (such as managing political pressures) may be a useful addition. An external consultant can greatly assist with tailoring and implementation, by using their experience and expertise to reduce the time required and improve the end product.More InformationCheck out the following site: Managing Successful Programmes Official SiteOr talk to Miriona!
