Jacquie WakefordImproving Use of Business-Critical IT SystemA large hospice was having major issues with their patient information system. Jacquie first mapped the business processes and then used this to inform tailoring the system to better meet each team’s needs. This was rolled out by a series of training and coaching sessions, supported by new, user-friendly documentation. Jacquie was praised for the great improvement to the system which now provides much better support of the organisation’s work.Requirements EngineeringJacquie mapped existing business processes across all fundraising teams for a large charity, then gathered requirements for a replacement IT system. The resulting specification formed the basis of the system selection process.Project Review and Issue ResolutionFor a large charity, Jacquie conducted a thorough evaluation and reassessment of two major inter-linked projects, which were suffering severe delays. Her recommendations were mostly agreed; some involving new ways of working for the charity. She was praised for ‘bringing clarity’ to the situation and for having exceeded expectations.IT SurveyJacquie developed an on-line IT survey for a national charity, exploring IT use and IT teams across the hospice sector. The response rate was excellent at 53%. Her analysis report was well received at a sector seminar.Tailored Coaching in Use of ITThe Principal of a University School wanted to learn how to use IT, having previously had very little experience. Jacquie provided tailoring one-to-one coaching, including provision of clear help-sheets on basic use of the laptop and the main applications.Project ManagementAn IT Directors network group wanted to replace their current website with a new, hosted site. Jacquie acted as project manager through to supplier selection and also performed the requirements gathering and specification work.Introduction of Project Management *For Action for Blind People, Jacquie developed a tailored method and templates based on PRINCE2. This was rolled out across the organisation by running a number of one-day training courses backed up by one-to-one coaching and support.
Introduction of Software Development Lifecycle Processes and Procedures *For a national food manufacturing company, Jacquie defined processes for four software development lifecycles, with supporting documentation and manual. She also defined and implemented a process change procedure and developed an on-line training course.
Software Development Method Introduction and Training *For a public sector finance organisation Jacquie developed and ran a two-day workshop to introduce a RAD (Rapid Application Development) approach and techniques to senior IT managers. After tailoring the method to meet the organisation's needs, she produced a guide and supporting documents, and ran a series of training workshops for development staff.
Reviewing and Revising Project Management *For a large solicitors firm, Jacquie helped review, tailor and re-implement a project management method based on PRINCE2. This involved analysis of the existing method by running a series of workshops, followed by development of new processes and practices.* These assignments were completed prior to Miriona
